1. Click the 'Start' button, then 'Control Panel,' followed by 'Network and Sharing Center.'
2. Select 'Manage Network Connections' from the Network and Sharing Center Window. A list of available connections will appear.
3. Right-click on the network you want to manage. Select 'Rename,' 'Enable' or 'Disable' from the pop-up list depending on your intent. If you selected rename, type in the new name in the open area then click 'OK.' Selecting 'Enable' or 'Disable' will result in the enabling or disabling of the connection.
Manage the Connection
1. Click the Windows 'Start' button followed by 'Control Panel,' then 'Network and Sharing Center.' The Network and Sharing Center window will appear.
2. Select the network you would like to manage from the list of available networks. The Local Area Connection dialog box will open with the status, activity and speed of the connection prominently displayed.
3. Click 'Properties' to manage the network connections. Check off the boxes next to the items you would like the connection to have. For example, check off both Internet protocol version four and six (IPv4 and IPv6) if you want your computer to have the ability to use both versions for networking.
4. Select 'Install' to install the options you checked off. Click 'OK' to finish.
