1. Update your computer. In order to fix the problem, you will need to have the latest version of Windows XP installed. To check for updates, open the Security Center utility (in the Control Panel) and make sure 'Automatic Updates' is turned 'on.' If it is, then you have the most recent updates. If not, the updates should begin downloading immediately.
2. Go to the Microsoft Hotfix request page and enter some basic information about your computer. Once finished, a link should appear at the bottom of the page. Click on this link to start the download.
3. Restart the computer. The Hotfix should take effect immediately after the computer boots back up.
