Troubleshooting an HP Photosmart (3 Steps)

1. Reset your HP Photosmart printer if the power button flashes red. Unplug the printer's power cord from the electrical outlet and wait approximately 30 seconds. During this period of time the printer will reset itself. Plug the printer back into its power source and power it on. The flashing red light will disappear.
2. Clean your HP Photosmart's ink cartridges if the text on your printed documents appears blurry. Press the 'Menu' button on the front panel of the printer and select the option titled 'Tools' on the built-in LCD screen. Highlight the 'Clean cartridges' option and click 'OK.' Wait as the printer automatically cleans its ink cartridges and prints a test page. Reprint your document if you are satisfied with the results of the test page.
3. Power off your HP Photosmart printer immediately if you experience a paper jam. Unplug the device from its power source and remove the rear access door to the printer. Gently pull out the dislodged paper through the back of the printer and discard it. Ensure that there is no additional paper stuck in the printer's rollers and replace the access door onto the printer. Plug the printer back in and power it on.
