Basic Epson Stylus CX6000 Printer Troubleshooting

1. Run a printer check to help diagnose problems. Turn the printer off. Disconnect the USB cable from the printer. Turn the CX6000 back on. Press the 'Setup' button. Press the right or left arrow until 'Check ink nozzles' is displayed. Press 'Start.' The printer will then print a test pattern and show the percentage of ink left in each cartridge. Turn the printer off and reconnect the USB cable, then turn the printer back on. If the test page did not print, there is a problem with the printer itself. If the test page printed, the problem may be caused by the computer or the USB cable.
2. Check the USB cable. Make sure it is firmly connected to the printer and to the computer.
3. Load paper into the sheet feeder if a 'Paper out' message is displayed. Press the 'Start' button after paper has been loaded to clear the error message.
4. Clear jammed paper if a 'Clear paper jam' message is displayed. Press the 'Start' button to automatically eject the paper that is jammed. Gently pull out paper that does not automatically eject. If paper is jammed inside the printer, turn the unit off. Open the scanner door, then remove the jammed paper.
5. Replace the ink cartridge(s) if printouts have white streaks or certain colors are spotted or faded. Replace only the color that is affected.
6. Clean the print head nozzles if light horizontal lines show on printouts. Right-click the printer icon in the taskbar if using Windows. If using a Macintosh, open the 'Applications' folder and select 'EPSON Printer Utility.' On either Windows or Macintosh, select 'Stylus CX6000' and click 'OK.' Select 'Head Cleaning.' Click 'Start.' Click 'Finish' when the process is complete.
7. Make sure there are not too many sheets loaded if paper is not feeding properly. There should be no more than 20 sheets of photo paper or 100 sheets of regular paper in the sheet feeder.

  1. My Stylus was working fine. I've had it for years. I'm trying to print a simple text edited document (tried every format and even tried this on an apple download called PAGES) and getting blank pages. I've done all the basic troubleshooting protocols. Spent 2 hours with a great apple tech. The only thing I haven't done is call Epson Help direct. A note that may spur some feedback: The problem began after I had to *update my Mac OS operating system to Sierra. The apple tech said I was the first person to relate such a problem. Of course. I always set the problem precedent! But seriously, I've always had similar hardware/software troubles after every apple system upgrade. Glitches to major challenges. They get fixed or seem to eventually self-correct. Any help or advice other than calling Epson would be very appreciated!!~Eric

  2. AHA! Before having gotten any valid advice as to where to go and what to do from here (above), I just thought to see if I could get a Photoshop Document to print. BINGO! A lovely 4x6, very colorful print!!! So, why will my CX6000 spit out a PSD, and not a simple text document???? I guess it would be logical to try again for a black page of text, via Text Edit (this is all being done on an iMac) or my latest Mac download, PAGES, a much more detailed app for printing resumes, essays, etc. Hmmmm.....(I NEVER GIVE UP)~E

  3. My Epson Stylus CX6000 is displaying E-02 message. Replace ink cartridges. I have done that but it wont proceed past this point. Stop Clear settings doesn't do anything. Tried unplugging -no help
