1. Close PaperPort.
2. Click 'Start,' type 'regedit,' and press 'Enter.'
3. Click the '+' sign next to the following items in the left pane of the Registry Editor:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftware
4. Right-click the 'ScanSoft' key and select 'Permissions.'
5. Check the boxes labeled 'FULL CONTROL' and 'READ' for the following entries:Your user acocuntAdministratorAdministrators (if available)Creater Owner (if available)Users (if available)
6. Click the '+' sign next to the following items in the left pane of the Registry Editor:HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftware
7. Right-click the 'ScanSoft' key and select 'Permissions.'
8. Check the boxes labeled 'FULL CONTROL' and 'READ' for the following entries:Your user acocuntAdministratorAdministrators (if available)Creater Owner (if available)Users (if available)
9. Close the Registry Editor.
Uninstall and Reinstall PaperPort
1. Click 'Start,' type 'programs and features' and press 'Enter.'
2. Select PaperPort from the list of installed options and click the 'Uninstall' button. Follow the prompts to finish uninstalling the software.
3. Download the PaperPort removal tool and save the file to your desktop.
4. Right-click the file and choose 'Extract here' to extract the files. A new folder named 'Remover' will appear on your desktop.
5. Open the 'Remover' folder and double-click 'Remover.exe.'
6. Click 'Yes' to confirm that you want to remove PaperPort.
7. Click 'Start' and select 'Computer.'
8. Double-click 'Local Disk C:' and open the 'Program Files' folder.
9. Open the 'ScanSoft' folder and delete the 'PaperPort' folder.
10. Click 'Start,' type 'devices and printers,' and press 'Enter.'
11. Right-click the PaperPort printer, choose 'Delete,' and click 'Yes' to remove the printer.
12. Restart the computer.
13. Insert your PaperPort installation disc and follow the prompts to reinstall the software.
This is fucking bullshit having to completely remove the product because apparently Paperport software engineers are not smart enough to figure out a better less invasive way. What a bunch of morons! I'll never buy there products ever again because it comes back. There is NO sure way to every stop this. I've had to uninstall and reinstall through every version I have used.
