How to Align an HP LaserJet 4700 (9 Steps)

1. Lift the top cover over the printer when the display message on the control panel says 'Replace Cartridge.' It will indicate which color cartridge needs to be replaced.
2. Pull down the front cover and transfer unit and remove the old cartridge from the printer, following the instructions printed on the machine.
3. Insert the new cartridge after you have removed it from its packaging. Align this cartridge with the tracks in the printer and push it in all the way.
4. Close the front cover and the top cover and wait for the control panel to display the 'Ready' message.
5. Print a test page to test print quality. The printer should have automatically calibrated itself, but if you see misaligned colors, try recalibrating it manually.
Manual Calibration
1. Select 'Menus' on the control panel.
2. Select 'Configure Device.'
3. Select 'Print Quality.'
4. Select 'Quick Calibrate Now' for a 65-second calibration. If this does not solve the problem, repeat steps 1 through 3 and select 'Full Calibrate Now' for a more comprehensive calibration that takes about four minutes and 20 seconds.
