1. Determine the model and serial number of your Seagate hard drive. Refer to your
manual for this information, or download and run Seagate's 'Drive
Detect' program to determine the information (See Resources).
2. Point your browser to the Seagate Serial number checker website (see Resources ).
3. Enter your hard drive's serial number into the website, then submit your information.
4. Select the number pertaining to your drive's model number on the website that appears.
5. Download the firmware installing utility given to you on the next website.
6. Store the installer on your computer in the area of your choice.
