1. Turn on the printer and open the CD/DVD tray so it extends from the printer.
2. Lower the paper tray on the front of the printer.
3. Raise the printer cover and locate the ink button, which is the center button on the front of the console beneath the cover.
4. Press and hold the ink button for at least 3 seconds to start the automatic print-head cleaning cycle.
5. Print a test page to see whether the self-cleaning cycle solved the problem. If not, proceed to Step 6.
6. Press the ink button so the printer head moves into a position where you can access the printer cartridges.
7. Raise the cartridge cover and remove the printer cartridges by squeezing the tab on the back of each cartridge and lifting each one straight out. Set the cartridges aside in the same order as you removed them.
8. Dip a cotton swab in isopropyl alcohol and swab the inkjet nozzles inside the printer cartridge compartment. The nozzles are the small holes in the bottom of the compartment.
9. Allow the alcohol to set for 30 seconds, then swab the nozzles with a clean, dry cotton swab.
10. Allow the alcohol to evaporate completely before reinstalling the printer cartridges.
11. Print a test page.
