1. Lift the top of the Brother MFC to reveal the scanner glass. Dampen a soft cloth with a non-abrasive glass cleaner and clean the entire glass surface.
2. Dip a cotton swab in the glass cleaner and use it to clean the corners of the glass. Continue swabbing the corners to remove all dust and debris.
3. Open the front of the Brother MFC and wait for the print cartridges to move to the center. Never attempt to move the print heads by hand, as doing so could damage the print mechanism.
4. Tilt the print cartridges forward and lift them out of the printer. Turn the print cartridges over so that the metal connectors are facing you.
5. Dip a cotton swab in warm water and clean the print cartridge thoroughly to remove the accumulated ink residue. Continue cleaning each cartridge until no more residue is evident.
6. Clean the interior of the Brother MFC with a small vacuum cleaner. A special vacuum used to clean computer components works best, but you can also use a small traditional vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool. Clean the entire interior of the printer to remove any built-up paper dust and ink residue.
