1. Shut down the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet. This will protect you against a possible electrical shock as you work inside the printer.
2. Allow the printer to cool down for at least 15 to 30 minutes. The fuser cartridge gets very hot while the printer is in use, and trying to remove a hot fuser could result in a serious burn. You may want to wear a pair of gloves to protect yourself from the heat when you do remove the fuser.
3. Locate the fuser cover. The location of the fuser cover will vary according to the model of the printer, so be sure to consult your owner's manual before proceeding.
4. Open the fuser cover and find the clips that hold the printer in place. In many cases these clips will be light blue, but check your owner's manual.
5. Move the fuser clips to the unlocked position and gently pull the fuser free of the printer.
6. Insert and secure the new fuser.
7. Plug the printer into the electrical outlet and power it on. Print a test page to make sure the fuser is functioning properly.
