How to Calibrate a Printer (5 Steps)

1. Use the CD drive slot to run the printer driver on your PC. Install the driver before plugging in the printer. Turn on the device and compete the installation.
2. Open the printer service dialog box. Some printer software has a separate option labeled 'calibration' whereas others have a printer servicing toolbox with a link to calibration. The driver will identify your printer model and direct you to the appropriate calibration tool.
3. Follow the on-screen instructions. The driver will provide two kinds of calibration options: one for a regular printer and the other for a multi-function printer-scanner-fax machine.
4. Click the 'print calibration test sheet' button which contains several numbers, letters, color options and lines. The on-screen command box will ask you to enter the number corresponding to the best printout. Enter the number in the on-screen command box and then click 'Finish.'
5. Print the final calibration sheet and put it into the automatic document feeder of your printer. The scanner will detect the settings and apply them to your printer. Test the device by printing out a simple and colored copy of any document.
