How to Do IP Printing

1. Check your printer for its host name. You should find this information on the paperwork and software included with your printer. If you can't find it there, you might find it on the back of your printer. It appears as a letter and number combination.
2. Select the 'Add a Printer' from the 'Printers and Faxes' menu. After you choose this option, a dialog box appears on screen to walk you through the process.
3. Pick the local printer option from the list provided. After selection, you need to put in the port that you want to use for the printer. Choose 'Standard TCP/IP Printer Port' from the drop down menu.
4. Type in the printer's host name into the appropriate sections on the next page. You'll put the host name in both the port name and IP address boxes.
5. Test the connection. After you finish adding the printer, you can start IP printing. Set the printer as your default and print any document directly over the network.
