1. Think twice before hitting the 'print' button. Does the document really need to be printed, or is it unnecessary? If email or creating a handwritten note would be just as effective, opt for the latter.
2. Preview documents prior to pressing the 'print' button to make sure that the formatting is correct. Viewing a 'print preview' image of the document will let you check page margins, font size and layout prior to printing, saving you the hassle of having to make changes and print the document again.
3. Print documents as a draft when the quality is unimportant. You can select draft-quality printing by altering the 'Print Properties' settings. In these settings, you can also opt to print the entire document in black and white or gray scale to save ink.
