1. Download the 6100 scanner driver (not the 6100 USB driver) from Visioneer and run the installation program according to the onscreen directions.
2. Turn your computer off.
3. Plug one end of the scanner cable into the parallel port on your computer.
4. Plug the other end of the scanner cable into the 'To PC parallel port' at the rear of the scanner.
5. Plug the power cable into the jack on the scanner, and plug the other end into a wall outlet. You should now see a power light come on at the front of the scanner.
6. Power your computer back on. After Windows loads, its plug-and-play feature should detect the scanner and auto-load the drivers for it. If it does not, open the Windows Control Panel (by clicking on 'Start' and 'Control Panel') and then select the 'Add New Hardware' icon. Have the wizard automatically detect the new scanner, and point it to the file where you installed the scanner drivers when it asks for the driver location.
