How to Troubleshoot a Canon MX310 Printer

1. Turn the MX310 off and remove the power cord from the back of the unit. Lift the top of the unit and spray the glass with a non-abrasive glass cleaner.
2. Wipe the entire glass surface with a soft cloth. Use a cotton swab to clean the corners of the glass.
3. Open the unit and remove the print cartridges. Dip a cotton swab in warm water and clean the entire metal surface of the cartridge to remove all paper dust and ink residue.
4. Remove all the paper from the tray and move the paper guide all the way to the left. Check the paper carefully, and remove any torn or crumpled sheets. Load the paper again in the tray.
5. Align the paper with the right side of the tray, then carefully slide the paper guide over to the right until it is snug against the paper. Make sure the paper guide is not too tight, or the paper might feed in skewed. If the paper guide is too loose, the printer could grab more than one sheet at a time, and that could result in paper jams.
6. Remove the print cable from the back of the Pixma MX310 and the computer if the print jobs do not come out. Reseat the cable on both ends, making sure it is tight.
