1. Remove the printer cartridges from the printer. If you are unsure on how to do this, check the manual for the printer. Also, some printers have removal and installation instructions listed under the lid.
2. Soak the printer cartridge nozzles in a bowl of hot water for no longer than 10 minutes. Water may seep into the cartridge and ruin the ink if it soaks for too long. Do not use boiling water, as this could damage the cartridges.
3. Dip a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and gently scrub the nozzles. If ink is anywhere else on the cartridges, scrub it off with the rubbing alcohol and cotton swab.
4. Wipe the cartridges dry with paper towel. Let them air dry for an additional 20 minutes.
5. Put the cartridges back in the printer and run the head-cleaning function before you attempt to print. If the cartridge is still unable to print after this, repeat Steps 1 through 4 an additional time. Replace the cartridge if it doesn't print after the second cleaning.
