1. Clear a paper jam. Lift the output tray and pull any jammed sheets out toward you with both hands. If the jam is not there, check the document feeder on top of the printer; lift the cover and pull any paper clear. Clear jams in the internal rollers by removing the rear access panel and pulling any jammed paper firmly out of the rollers.
2. Download and install the latest drivers and software for the printer They are available through Resource 1. If you already have the most recent version, uninstall the printer and software, then reinstall it.
3. Check that the print cartridge's latch and printer cover are properly closed.
4. Set the printer as your default by opening 'Devices and Printers' from the 'Start' menu, right-clicking the printer and selecting 'Set as default.' Printed documents will automatically be sent to this printer in the future. A green check-mark should appear next to the printer's icon.
5. Check the printer's power cable and USB cable. Reconnect any loose cables.
6. Check the printer's wireless settings, if you are printing over a wireless network. Press the 'Setup' button on the printer, select 'Network' and run 'Wizard,' entering the correct network name, security type and password.
7. Remove all the cables connected to the printer if you get a 'non-recoverable' error, and the printer is not responding to commands. Reconnect the cables after 20 seconds have passed.
8. Check if the printer cartridges' orange protective caps have been removed.
9. Clean the printheads. Turn off and unplug the printer. Remove the printhead and gently wipe the electrical contacts with a soft, dry, lint-free material, like paper coffee filters or eyeglasses cleaning paper. Place the printhead on a piece of paper, electrical contacts down, and wipe the contacts in the printer's printhead slot. Do not touch the nozzles, and do not wet the cleaning material. Replace the printheads and plug the printer back in when finished.
10. Replace any empty ink cartridges if the printed image is more faded near the bottom of the page than the top.
