1. Push the 'OK' button on your Epson RX595 control panel when the printer fails to recognize one or more of the ink cartridges.
2. Select 'Setup' on the control panel, select 'Ink Levels' and press the 'OK' button to see if the printer recognizes one or more of the cartridges. If the printer does recognize one or more cartridges--you see cartridge ink meters on the display screen--check if any meter has an exclamation point (!) on it or a low ink level, indicating a cartridge that you'll need to replace. After reviewing this information, press the 'OK' button again.
3. Lift the scanner unit up until it rests on its hinges in an opened, angled position.
4. Place your fingertips along the back edge of the cartridge cover and pull up on the cover. Flip the cover toward you on its hinge.
5. Press the tab on the back of the first of any low, spent, refilled or generic brand cartridges and pull the cartridge from the slot. Remove the tape from the new Epson brand ink cartridge, insert it into the empty slot, press down until you hear it click securely in the slot and then replace any other cartridges as needed. If you don’t need to replace any cartridges, skip this step.
6. Apply light pressure to the tops of the six ink cartridges to make sure that each cartridge is securely locked in its slot.
7. Flip the cartridge cover back into position. Push down on the cover until you hear it click--locking the cover in place.
8. Lower the scanner unit onto the printer. Wait for the 'Cannot recognize ink cartridges' message to clear from the display and begin printing. If the display doesn't clear, contact Epson at 562-276-4382.
