1. Obtain a set of computer speakers. They don't have to be Dell speakers or any particular brand. Any computers speakers will have the 3.175mm (1/8 inch) stereo jack that will fit in to your Optiplex 330. The jack will typically be light green to correspond to the port color on the back of the computer.
2. Plug the audio cable into the back of your computer. The connector will fit in to a small lime-green port with a sound wave graphic.
3. Plug in the speaker's power cord. Some older or larger computer speaker sets will need to be plugged in to an A/C outlet for power, others can be connected directly to the computer through a USB port.
4. Turn on the speakers. Depending on the model, there will be either a knob to turn on the power and adjust volume, or a button to power on the unit and a knob for the volume. In either case, ensure that the speakers are powered on and the volume is set to an audible level.
5. Play a song or a game that makes audible sound to test the speakers. They should work right away. If they do not, your computer's hard drive may have been reformatted and the driver may have been deleted.
