How to Disassemble the Brother MFC240C

1. Turn off your printer and unplug the machine from its AC adapter.
2. Remove the ink cartridges from the printer. Open the ink cartridge cover to expose the inkjet cartridges. Pull down on the lock release lever on each cartridge and pull it out of the cartridge case. Cartridges should be removed and replaced when they run out of ink.
3. Pull the paper tray out of the printer. Grip the tray firmly by its handle and pull it horizontally away from the printer until it comes loose from the track and disconnects from the machine. The paper tray should be removed and cleaned on a regular basis to prevent the buildup of dust inside the machine.
4. Remove the jam cover from the back of the printer by pulling it firmly away from the machine. Removing the jam cover will expose the paper rollers inside the printer. The rollers inside the printer should be cleaned on a regular basis to prevent paper jams.
5. Lift the scanner bed up and away from the top of the machine. The scanner bed cannot be removed, but it will open on hinges to expose the printer platen inside the machine for cleaning. Do not attempt to remove the printer platen; doing so could damage the printer and void the warranty.
