How to Solve an Adobe Reader That Cannot Print Documents

1. Click 'File' and 'Exit' to close Adobe Reader and the document that will not print, if the PDF is open.
2. Turn off your printer, wait 15 seconds, then turn it back on.
3. Open your computer's word processing or text editor. A blank document will open automatically. Type the word 'Test' in the blank document. Click 'File > Print > OK' to print the test document. If the document prints, proceed to the next step; otherwise, skip to the 'Resetting Your Computer and Printer' section.
4. Open Adobe Reader. Click 'File' and 'Open.' Navigate to and double-click on the PDF file you were experiencing trouble printing. The file will open.
5. Click 'File > Print.' Click on the radio button next to 'Current Page.' Click 'OK' to print the single page. If the page prints correctly, click 'File' and 'Print' then click on the radio button next to 'Pages' and enter the next page number you want to print--'2' or other page number. Click 'OK.' Sometimes a multi-page PDF file won't print because of an error on a specific page. If the page does not print or one or more pages won't print, complete the steps in the 'Resetting Your Computer and Printer' section.
Resetting Your Computer and Printer
1. Click 'Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart' if using Windows XP. Click 'Start,' the right arrow icon next to 'Turn Off Computer' and 'Restart' if using Windows Vista or 7.Click on the Apple icon in the left corner of your Mac's screen and 'Restart' if using a Mac.
2. Turn off your printer, wait 15 seconds, then turn it back on as your computer is starting up.
3. Open Adobe Reader. Click 'File' and 'Open.' Navigate to and double-click on the PDF file you were experiencing trouble printing. The PDF will open.
4. Click 'File > Print > OK' to print the PDF file. If the file does not print, complete the steps in the 'Printing to Another Printer' section.
Printing to Another Printer
1. Click 'File' and 'Print' within Adobe Reader. Click on the down arrow next to 'Name' and select a different printer, if available. If your computer only has one printer, skip to Step 3.
2. Click 'OK' to print the PDF file. If the file does not print, proceed to Step 3.
3. Click 'File' and 'Print.' Click the 'Advanced' button.
4. Click the check box next to 'Print As Image.' Click 'OK.'
5. Click 'OK' to print the PDF file. This method of printing takes longer to process and output to your printer. Your PDF file's fonts and images may not print clearly but will still be visible.
