1. Connect the printer to the computer using a USB printer cable. Plug the printer in but do not turn it on yet.
2. Turn the computer on and put the installation disc in the disc drive. If the installation program does not start automatically, go to 'My Computer' or 'Computer,' depending on the version of Windows you are running, right-click the disk drive and select 'Run' from the menu to start the program; or find the 'setup.exe' file and run it. Once the installation begins, follow the directions.
3. Search the Internet for the printer driver using the phrase 'HP 2400 printer installation' if you do not have the disc. Or search the support area of the HP website directly for the driver. There are three different drivers to choose from depending on the HP 2400 series model you have.
4. Download the appropriate driver to your computer. The computer will tell you when the download and installation is completed. Turn the printer on and test it by trying to print out a document.
