1. Go to office businesses that use copy, fax and other printing machines, and inquire about purchasing their empty toner cartridges. Many times these businesses may give you the cartridges for free, or they may want to negotiate a fee.
2. Print up flyers and business cards to purchase empty toner cartridges, and put them in places in your community where printing services are offered, such as graphic design shops, print and copy shops or near office supply stores. You may then get phone calls, inquiries and requests about purchasing empty toner cartridges.
3. Sell your empty toner cartridges to office supply stores such as Staples or Office Depot. As of 2010, these businesses offer $3 for an empty cartridge. Or you can get an in-store credit for the cartridges toward other ink purchases.
4. Sell empty cartridges to online toner cartridge purchasing companies such as TonerBuyer.com or HartfordToner.com. These businesses offer as little as $3 for smaller brands of empty cartridges and as much as $20 for higher-end cartridges.
