1. Download the ChromiumOS build from hexxeh.net, then extract the files till only an IMG formatted disk image remains. Under Mac OS X or GNU/Linux you can use a Terminal window with the command 'tar -zxvf filename.tar.gz' where 'filename' is the build name and version.
2. Insert a blank, unformatted USB thumb drive, then launch your disk imaging software. Select the IMG file and the USB drive, then start the transfer. For Windows Image Writer or Unetbootin, you can simply drag and drop the IMG file into the application's text-entry field, then select the USB drive from a drop-down list and click to burn. Under Mac OS X or GNU/Linux, launch a terminal window and run 'dd if=filename.img of=/dev/USB' where 'filename.img' is the build name and version and '/dev/USB' is the hardware address of your USB drive found by issuing the 'sudo fdisk -l' command.
3. Restart your computer once the burning process is complete. Press the necessary key to open your boot options menu. This key will be different for every motherboard manufacturer and BIOS version, but is most 'F2' or 'DEL' on newer computers. Use the arrow keys to select the USB as the boot device, then press the 'Enter' key.
4. Type 'facepunch' as the user name and 'facepunch' as the password to log in to the development version of Google's Chrome/Chromium OS.
