1. Insert the software CD that comes with the Dell printer into the CD-ROM drive.
2. Start the CD if it does not start automatically by clicking the flag button in the lower left corner of the Acer screen to select 'Computer' and double-click the drive labeled 'D.'
3. Click the on-screen prompt buttons to load the Dell printer software and drivers on the Acer Aspire laptop.
4. Connect the USB cable to one of the ports on the left edge of the Acer when prompted by the software screen, turning the cable plug so the arrow faces upward.
5. Plug the other end of the cable into the USB port on the back of the Dell printer in the upper right corner, then turn on the printer by pressing the 'Power' button.
6. Continue installing the software by clicking the buttons on the Acer laptop screen, then restart the computer when finished.
