1. Check the ports and connections from your printer to your computer. Make sure all wires are properly plugged and all ports and jacks are free of dust and excess material that might interfere with the connections.
2. Check that all drivers are up-to-date on your machine and that there have been no software errors that might keep your printer from running. This issue can usually be fixed by reinstalling software from the disc you received with your printer.
3. Look inside the printer to be sure that it is free of anything that might disrupt the moving of the internal mechanisms of the device. Clean your printer head. Most printers have a maintenance option that will do the task for you, but you can also clean your printer head by hand, should it be necessary
4. Check that you have removed the plastic tab that sticks to the ink cartridge before you try to print. Use the correct ink cartridge. Do not attempt to use a brand of cartridge that has not been specifically made for your machine, even if the cartridges look similar in size and shape.
5. Look to see that the lever that depresses the cartridge into the well has been returned to its original position after inserting the ink cartridge.
