How to Reset a Broadband Password (6 Steps)

1. Unplug the modem from the wall outlet and leave unplugged for approximately 1 minute.
2. Turn off your computer for one minute and restart.
3. Plug the modem back into the wall outlet. Navigate to http//192.168.1.1 in your web browser. Input the default username and password for your modem or router manufacturer to log in.
Hard Reset
1. Press and hold the reset button typically located on the back or the base of your broadband modem using a pointed object like a toothpick.
2. Keep the reset button pressed for approximately 10 to 30 seconds or until all lights on the modem illuminate.
3. Reboot your computer. Navigate to http//:192.168.1.1 of your web browser and attempt to access your network configuration screen with the default username and password.
