How to Use Warmth for Gout

1. Run a warm bath or use a heated swimming pool or hot tub. Use a water temperature that you can tolerate without discomfort. You don't want to burn yourself. If you are pregnant or have diabetes, high blood pressure or cardiovascular disease, don't sit in a hot bath. If you have any of these conditions, you should use a hot washcloth or heat patch.
2. Soak in the tub for at least 15 minutes. The heat in the bath dilates your blood vessels, helping improve circulation in the area where you are feeling gout pain. The heat also can help make the uric acid crystals more soluble, which will help your body eliminate them quicker. The longer and hotter the bath, the better the heat will be able to penetrate the affected area. Again, be careful not to burn yourself.
3. Repeat the treatment twice a day. You can add two cups of Epsom salts to the bath, which will help enhance the benefits of the heat. Epsom salts contain magnesium, which is thought to help circulation. It also flushes toxins from the body.
4. Take ibuprofen. Ibuprofen acts as an anti-inflammatory. Take two tablets before your bath. As the heat improves your circulation, it will move the medication into the affected area quickly so it can begin to relieve the discomfort.

How to Buy a Brother Printer Waste Ink Tank (5 Steps)

1. Know the keywords. For example, Brother's official website is a natural starting point, but you won't find the tank by searching it as such. You'll want to search by 'waste' or 'toner cleaner,' as it is listed as a waste toner cleaner. It looks like a simple plastic container, and you can buy it directly from the site for $16.99.
2. If you've exhausted searching at the 'usual suspects'--your local office-supply retailer--check out Brother Mall. The manufacturer recommends it as a source for all kinds of hard-to-find Brother supplies and accessories. (Follow the link in Resources.)
3. Check and double-check the model number. No matter how or where you buy, ascertain that the tank will work with your specific Brother printer. You don't want to find out until it's too late that the tank isn't right. Hint: Online, the appropriate model is listed under the photo and price. Often, one letter or one number can make a big difference.
4. Familiarize yourself with the return process. Many times, these supplies are non-refundable if opened, making Step 3 all the more important.
5. Try discounted office-supply sites. Note: Not all will have this product. Many specialize in toners and cartridges. A good bet is Quill.com (see Resources), as well as OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) sites that are authorized to sell brands like Brother.

How to Print a Poster Using an HP All in One (19 Steps)

1. Load your HP All-In-One printer with half a pack of photo paper. Hold the paper by its edges to keep any fingerprints off of the paper.

3. Click 'File,' then 'Print' from the program's menu bar.
4. Select the 'HP All-In-One' printer, if it is not your default printer. Do not click the mouse -- just highlight the printer.

6. Click on the 'Advanced' tab.
7. Select '2x2,' '3x3,' '4x4' or '5x5' under the 'Poster Printing' drop-down list. Note, the '2x2' selection requires four sheets of paper, '3x3' requires nine sheets of paper, '4x4' requires 16 sheets of paper and the '5x5' section requires 25 sheets of paper.
8. Click 'OK.'
9. Click 'Print.' Your photo will start printing.
10. Carefully lay the printed pages out on a flat surface. Wear latex gloves to keep from smearing the ink on the pages.
11. Let the printed pages dry for five minutes.
12. Arrange the printed pages so the poster is formed. Notice which borders need to be trimmed. You don't want to trim all of the borders -- you need to leave one border on the side and one border on the top or bottom of the printed pages to glue the trimmed ones on to.
13. Place a ruler on top of one of the printed pages and trim off the white border that needs to be removed. Use a cutting tool such as a sharp box cutter-like knife or other tool to remove that border. To speed up the trimming process, use a paper cutter.
14. Continue trimming off the white borders that need to be trimmed on each printed page.
15. Apply glue from a glue stick or other adhesive to one of the printed page's untrimmed border.
16. Carefully place the trimmed printed page that matches the other printed page on top of the glue-applied untrimmed border.

18. Repeat steps 15 through 17 for the next two printed pages you need to glue. Continue gluing and placing until all the pages are connected and the poster is complete.
19. Let the poster dry completely before hanging, laminating or placing it in a frame.

How to Keep Paper From Sticking Together in a Printer

1. Store the paper flat in a dry place. Do not remove the packaging from the paper until you are ready to print on it. This keeps humidity from being absorbed into the paper.
2. Use only high-quality sheets of paper that are not crimped or wrinkled. Paper that is not completely flat may not feed individually through a printer.
3. Fan the paper before inserting it into the printer if you do not normally fan it. If you normally fan it and are experiencing problems, try not fanning it. Fanning in especially dry environments can build up static electricity in the paper.
4. Load only as many sheets of paper as the printer feed tray can hold. There is usually a mark on the paper feed area indicating the maximum fill line. Consult the printer manual for the recommended number of sheets for your printer if you do not see a mark.
5. Clean the rubber printer uptake rollers in the printer periodically. The rollers can pick up paper dust or residue and fail to separate the sheets of paper adequately. If necessary, replace worn rollers. Also check the printer for dust, paper fragments or other debris in the paper path on a regular basis.
6. Use the shortest and flattest printing path through the printer. There is usually a diagram in the printer's manual or on the printer manufacturer's website demonstrating the printing paths through your printer. Use the path least likely to bend the paper.
7. Insert the paper into your printer with the printable side toward the print head. The printable side of the paper is usually indicated by an arrow on the packaging.

How to Make Laser Printer Toner Last Longer

1. Compare the stated page yields on remanufactured and name brand toner. While third party and remanufactured toner is generally cheaper, the name brand cartridges could be a better value if they yield more pages.
2. Clean the area underneath the toner cartridge on a regular basis. Once a week, remove the toner cartridge and set it aside, then use a soft cloth or a small vacuum to clean the area where the cartridge sat. This will remove any paper dust and toner residue that could foul the paper path and cause you to waste paper and toner.
3. Use the print preview function before sending your documents to the printer. Sometimes the document does not look like you expected it to and if you print the document you waste that paper and the toner. Click on the 'File' menu and choose 'Print Preview' to see the document exactly as it will appear on the page. This gives you a chance to make any needed changes and avoid wasted effort.
4. Print in draft mode whenever possible to save on toner costs. To print in draft mode, click the 'File' menu and choose 'Print,' then click the 'Properties' button. Change the DPI setting to a lower value by clicking on the 'Print Quality' box.
5. Remove the toner cartridge from the printer and shake it vigourously, both up and down and from side to side. Shake the cartridge when you see the print beginning to get lighter. This will move the remaining toner powder around and help it last longer. Depending on your printer model and printing volume, you can get anywhere from an extra day to an extra week of printing by shaking down the cartridge.
6. Use the duplex feature of your printer if it is available. Duplexing prints on both the front and back of each page, helping you save both ink and paper.

As the projector starts it should display some sort of image or blank screen, despite the computer not being turned on. If there is an image displayed then you can use it to focus the projector if needed.
3. Turn the computer on. In most cases the computer will recognize the projector immediately and use it as a display device. If it does not, you may need to shut down the computer and attach a standard monitor in order to install needed drivers or configure the computer to recognize the projector before reconnecting the projector and trying again.
4. When you are done with the projector, shut down your computer as you normally would. Once the computer has been successfully shut down you may turn off the projector and disconnect it from the computer, reconnecting your monitor so that you can go back to using it.

How to Repair Printer Rollers

1. Turn the printer off and remove the power cord. Slide the paper tray out until it stops, then carefully lift the tray up from the bottom and slide it free of the track. Set the paper tray aside.
2. Reach inside the printer through the paper tray opening and feel along the right-hand side. Find the rollers and note their texture. If the rollers are worn completely smooth, they must be replaced. If the rollers still feel rough, they may be salvaged and reused.
3. Grasp the roller firmly and pull it off the bar. Clean the roller thoroughly with a clean cloth. Over time paper dust and ink residue accumulate on the rollers, and this can interfere with their normal operation.
4. Dampen a cloth using warm water and soak the roller thoroughly if a label is wrapped around it. One of the most common problems with printer rollers occurs when a label comes off inside the printer and wraps around the roller. Wrap the damp cloth around the roller to loosen the adhesive on the label, then attempt to peel the label off the roller. If the label does not come off cleanly, the roller should be replaced.

How to Refurbish a Laser Printer Drum

1. Turn off the printer. Put on latex gloves for extra safety when handling toner inks. Replace the toner cartridge. Print a test page with the new cartridge installed. If the quality of the print is improved, then the drum does not need to be cleaned or replaced. Otherwise, leave the printer off for at least an hour before proceeding with the drum.
2. Open the printer lid and inspect the drum for marks, debris, scratches or lines. Often, if such ink marks or debris exist, these marks will reflect the marks on the printed paper. If such marks do not exist on the drum, you may also need to check the fuser for marks or signs of deterioration. The fuser may need to be sent back to your lender for replacement.
3. Remove the three adjacent rollers before removing the drum. Use a screwdriver to pry out the E-clips next to the drum. The drum is photosensitive, so be cautious upon removal and make sure the drum is not exposed to light for long periods of time. Put the rollers on a piece of paper to avoid surface stains.
4. Use cotton swabs to wipe away excess toner on the drum. Reinstall the drum in the reverse order in which it was removed. If printing is still problematic, the drum may be in disrepair and must be replaced. Contact your lender on instructions as to how to return it. Do not discard the drum.

Dell Laser Printer Cleaning

1. Run a self-cleaning cycle on your Dell printer. The commands you enter to run the cycle vary with your model, so consult your user's manual. The self-cleaning cycle will remove waste toner from the cartridge.
2. Put on your ventilator mask so you don't inhale toner particles. Put on rubber gloves, as well, so you don't stain your fingers with the toner.
3. Unplug the printer. Spread the sheet on the floor. Roll the printer over the sheet, or pick it up and set it down, if it is small enough. Wait two hours for the printer to cool down.
4. Open the door of the laser printer and pull the toner cartridge up and out of the printer. Set it down on the sheet. Stretch the sides of your toner cloth to 'activate' it. Toner cloths trap toner particles. Wipe down the outside of your cartridge with the cloth.
5. Turn on the toner vacuum. Insert the nozzle into the printer, but do not touch the nozzle to any of the internal components. The suction is very strong and may damage the components. Use the vacuum to suck up loose toner particles. Open all printer drawers and run the vacuum along all the outer surfaces.
6. Dip your cotton swap into the Isopropyl alcohol and run it along the exposed corona wires that run through your machine. Run the cotton swab along the corners where the vacuum couldn't suck up the particles.
7. Replace the cartridge and plug the machine back in. Dispose of the sheet and the toner cloth.
