How to Operate a Printing Machine

1. Placing the original of whatever it is that you're going to have printed is the first step to operating a printer. Make sure that whatever it is that's going to be printed, the amount of paper that's inside the printer is the correct size for the images on the original. The original can be placed on the feeder of the printing machine or underneath the feeder which is considered the scanner. The feeder can print several amounts of papers at one time while the scanner can only do front and back of one individual piece of paper.
2. Once the original has been placed on the scanner or on the feeder, the printer will give you options on how you would like to print the documents. You might want duplicate copies of the document or you might only want a single copy. Selecting the amount is first and foremost. Select which direction you would like the images to lay on the printed copy. Long horizontal or vertical documents might need to be printed on a larger piece of paper. Now that the amount and size has been decided, press the start key and watch the copies come out of the end of the printer machine.
3. Faxing is also a task that can be completed on the printing machine. Faxing is done by dialing the number in which the fax is going through. If it's long distance, a 1 is required before the number. Place the documents that need to be faxed on the feeder to scan through the printer. A fax can only be placed through the feeder and not scanned if there is more than one piece of document present. The number will dial on the fax machine letting you know whether the line is open or busy. After the fax has been successfully sent a confirmation page will print out providing date, time, amount of pages that were sent, and a confirmation code.

Every individual printer series has a unique ICC color profile file, so find the one that matches your printer exactly. If you have installed your printer's drivers from a CD, try searching for files ending in .icc or .icm.
2. Open Photoshop and the image you want to print by clicking on the 'File' menu and choosing 'Open.' Navigate to the image file, click on it and then click 'Open.'
3. Assign the color profile to the image by clicking on the 'Image' menu and choosing 'Mode' and then 'Assign Profile.' Find the ICC or ICM file associated with your printer, select it and click 'OK.'
4. Edit the photo using your printer's colorspace. Because Photoshop will limit the available colors to the colors that can be rendered by your printer, the image you can see on the screen will more faithfully be represented on paper.
5. Access the 'File' menu and choose 'Print with preview.'
6. Under the 'Color Handling' drop down menu, select 'Let Photoshop Determine Colors.' Photoshop should automatically apply your printers ICC color profile, but if it does not, select your printer's profile from the list.
7. Under the 'Rendering Intent' option, choose 'Relative Colorimetric' and check 'Black Point Compensation' to tell Photoshop to render the colors in a way that matches the colors your printer is able to print.

How to Refill a HP Deskjet 960C Ink Cartridge

1. Hold the cartridge upside down and look for the small circle of film in the center of the underside. Remove this film, using a utility knife blade to help peel it away. This reveals the filler hole, sealed by a ball bearing. Push the ball bearing into the cartridge with the tip of the knife or the point of a writing pen.
2. Fill a clean plastic syringe bottle with as much black ink as it will hold.
3. Inject the ink into the cartridge slowly. Look for ink to seep up out of the hole to indicate it is full. This cartridge holds up to 20 milliliters of ink, so more than one injection may be needed. Put any excess ink back into its original container. Wash out the syringe after the cartridge is full.
4. Squeeze the sides of the cartridge firmly while you insert a small plastic plug into the filer hole. This is needed to keep excess air out of the cartridge and ensure it will fit back into the printer. You should see a drop of ink leak out of the print head as you do this.
5. Let the cartridge stand right side up with the print head facing down for a couple of minutes so excess ink can drip out and the pressure within the cartridge, will stabilize. If you use a paper towel to catch the drippings, don't let the print head touch the towel for more than two minutes. This can ruin the print head's 'wicking effect' and cause the ink to pour out.

How to Take Out an Ink Cartridge From an Epson Printer

5. Pinch the top and bottom edges of the ink cartridge you want to replace and pull straight up to remove it from the printer.

How to Clean Rollerblade Bearings (8 Steps)

1. Remove your rollerblade wheels by unscrewing the wheel bolts counterclockwise and then pull the wheels.
2. Push or pry the bearings from the wheels with a bearing tool or small, flat-head screwdriver based on the type of spacer used (if any) with your bearings and wheels. Place the tool along the inner edge of bearings with seamless standard or no spacers and push both through the wheels. Place the tool head inside the space between the bearings and seamed floating or satellite spacers and pry both from the wheels.
3. Insert the tip of a pushpin or craft utility knife into the seam at the outer edge of a shield or seal on the first bearing and then pop the shield or seal from the bearing. If your bearings have C-clips, insert the tool tip into the open end of the C-clip ring, pry the C-clip from the bearing and then tap the bearing against your hand to dislodge the side shield—popping it out with a tool if necessary. Repeat with each bearing.
4. Fill a container with a bearing-formulated or citrus-based cleaner or acetone. Drop your bearings and metal shields (if applicable) into the container and soak for 5 minutes—longer if using a bearing-formulated cleaner and recommended by the cleaner manufacturer. Wipe non-metal shields or seals with a soft dry or damp cloth and set aside.
5. Lay a cloth over the top of a second empty container after the bearings have soaked. Secure the cloth with a rubber or non-rubber stretch band or your hand, and then pour the bearings and cleaner out of the first container over the cloth so that the cleaner enters the second container–but the bearings and any dirt remain on top of the cloth.
6. Pull the dirty cloth from the second container, remove the bearings and set the cloth side. Drop the bearings into the filtered cleaning fluid and repeat Step 5. Repeat the process as needed with fresh cloths until you can no longer see any debris on a cloth when you switch containers.
7. Place the bearings on a dry cloth outside and wait 8 to 12 hours or overnight for the bearings to dry.
8. Apply a bearing lubricant—spray oil or gel—onto the bearings and then reassemble the parts. Press the side shields and/or C-clips or seals back into the bearings and push the bearings and/or spacers back into the wheels. Screw bolts clockwise through the wheels onto your rollerblades to reattach the wheels.

How to Fix an Epson Projector With Red Lines on the Screen

1. Turn on the Progressive setting if you see horizontal lines on your screen. Choose 'Video' to watch videos made using a video camera. Turn your Epson projector to the 'Off' position while watching a large amount of movement. Set your projector to 'Film' if you see flickering with the Auto setting. Leave the setting on 'Film' or 'Film/Auto' while watching videos that produce interlaced output. Interlaced output compresses the image into a whole one by storing the even scan lines, then switching to store the odd scan lines. Turning to the Progressive setting allows you to view images with all of their scan lines in each frame.
2. Leave the video signal setting on Auto. This way your Epson projector can interpret an National Television Systems Committee (NTSC) or Phase Alternating Line (PAL) format automatically, ensuring the video input signal setting matches your video equipment and preventing static on the screen.
3. Set the computer input to either 'Computer,' 'VGA,' or 'RGB,' depending on your projector model.
4. Remove vertical lines by using the remote control video menu or by using the 'Tracking' button located on the control panel of your Epson projector.

Where to Refill Printer Cartridges

1. Purchase an ink refill package and perform the somewhat messy injection procedure. Prices for black color refill kits average around $10.00, and prices for tri-color kits average up to $15.00. While prices may vary per store, refill kits are available at stores such as Walgreens, Walmart, Target, Big Lots and most large office supply stores. Be sure to check the package jacket for your printer make and model. Not all printer ink cartridges can be refilled using the rather low-quality ink that comes as part of these packages.
2. Over 3000 Walgreens Drugstores nationwide offer 1-hour ink cartridge refill services over the photo counter. Prices are very reasonable at $10.00 for a black color refill and $15.00 for a tri-color. In addition, the Walgreens service includes a complete cleaning of the cartridge as well as a print test after the refill to make sure everything is in order. Currently, Walgreens provides ink refills for the following printers only: Dell, HP, Lemark, Okidata, Primera, Sharp and Xerox.
3. Both Office Max and Staples have offered ink refill drops and “while-you-wait” services in the past, but every location is different and the services are not advertised. For those interested in refilling at these stores, it is best to check with customer service first. Many stores offer a recycle drop for used cartridges with a $3.00+ coupon towards a new cartridge given for the 'green' environmental gesture.
4. All Staples stores do offer a program, both on and offline, called InkDrop. InkDrop is basically a recycle program that sends new ink cartridges to customers who mail in their empties using the prepaid envelopes that came with their last new ink purchase. The idea is that, by mailing the empties back in a timely manner, the customer’s printer will never go dry. Except for eliminating a trip to the local Staples, the price of the mailed cartridges is the same via InkDrop as it is in-store.

How to Start a Business in Vinyl Printing

1. Learn the process of trimming, cutting and applying vinyl, including the quality and appropriate resolution of the vinyl, types of vinyl, and how to prepare a flat service or vehicle wrap either through on-the-job training or by getting certified. To learn how to apply quality vinyl that won't crack or fade in months, you'll need experience. Enroll in a certification primer course to learn surface preparation, positioning methods and other techniques for working on flat surfaces. Then consider enrolling in an introductory vehicle-wrapping course to gain experience wrapping vinyl. Visit the Professional Decal Application Alliance (PDAA) for details (see Resources).
2. Become a master imager and installer through the Professional Decal Application Alliance certification (offered by the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association) or by becoming a 3M installer.
3. Secure a location for your vinyl-cutting business, such as a warehouse that can accommodate your equipment and the vehicles you'll be wrapping. The venue should be able to house large banners or vinyl billboards. Create an eye-catching banner that advertises your services to place on your warehouse.

Computer speakers with a 3.5-millimeter plug can be plugged directly into the jack, or you can connect the projector to a traditional audio system by connecting its earphone output to the audio system's analog audio inputs with a 1/8-inch stereo miniplug-to-stereo-dual-phono plug adapter.

How to Reset a BIOS Chip

1. Disconnect the computer from any electrical source and remove the computer's side access panel. This may require the removal of one or more thumbscrews from the rear face of the computer case.
2. Locate the BIOS battery on the motherboard. This battery is most often located in the lower-right portion of the motherboard. However, motherboard design varies among manufacturers. This battery will be a solitary, circular, flat, 'button' type battery.
3. Remove the BIOS battery by gripping its sides and lifting away from the motherboard. If the battery does not allow for removal with your fingertips, use a screwdriver to gently pry it out of its housing.
4. Press the computer's power button to expend any stored electrical charge. This ensures that no charge is left to hold the BIOS setting inside the CMOS chip itself.
5. Replace the BIOS battery.
6. Replace the computer's side access panel and re-establish any previously severed electrical connections. The computer's BIOS settings are now reset to their default state. The computer may be booted into its operating system normally at this point.

How do I Troubleshoot a Canon Prixma Printer?

8. Remove any paper jams that are interfering with proper operation of the Canon Pixma printer. Pull the paper gently out of the rollers. Grasp the paper and pull it downward from the bottom of the printer output tray. Grasp the top of the paper in the paper feed tray and pull it upward to remove jammed paper. Open the printer housing to grasp paper that is still firmly in the roller. Pull the paper gently away from the roller to release.
9. Reduce the amount of paper that is placed in the incoming paper tray. Too much paper can increase the risk of jams.
10. Check your Canon Pixma manual if the power light is flashing. Different flash patterns indicate different issues such as a paper jam or ink problem. Correct the specific problem according to the instructions in your manual. You may need to remove a jam, replace ink or check software.
11. Check your computer screen for error messages. Follow the instructions on the screen or in your manual to fix the issue.

How to Use an Epson Ceiling Mount Projector (7 Steps)

1. Stand the Epson front projector on a table facing the projection screen. Turn the Epson on with its remote. Press 'Menu.' Select the 'System Setup' menu. Choose 'Ceiling' from the list of choices under 'Orientation.' Press 'Menu' again to exit the settings menu. Turn the projector off and let it cool down for at least 2 hours before proceeding.
2. Turn the projector over. Place the ceiling mounting plate against the screw holes on the bottom of the Epson. Screw the screws through the plate into the projector with the Phillips screwdriver. Have a professional home theater installer who is certified to work with electrical wiring mount a ceiling projector mount and run a HDMI cable from the video source.
3. Place a ladder under the front projector mount on the ceiling. Loosen the screws on the front projection ceiling mount with your fingers. Slide the mounting plate attached to the Epson into the slots on the ceiling mount. Tighten the screws on the ceiling mount with your fingers. Tighten the screws until they will not turn at all using the jaws of a pliers.
4. Attach the video cable coming out from a hole next to the ceiling mount into the appropriate connection on the Epson; for example, an HDMI cable inserted into the Epson's HDMI connection. Turn the Epson front projector on with the remote. Press the 'Source' button on the remote until you see text for the type of video cable connected to the Epson -- such as 'HDMI.'
5. Rotate the knurled zoom ring surrounding the lens to alter the dimensions of the image so it fits inside of the projection screen. Rotate the focus ring in front of the zoom ring to focus the image -- use the 'Zoom' and 'Focus' buttons on the remote if there are motorized zoom and focus features.
6. Press the 'Pattern' button on the remote to bring up a chart. Rotate the horizontal ring on the Epson left and right to move the image so that the left and right sides fit inside of the projection screen. Rotate the vertical ring on the Epson towards and away from you to move the image so that the top and bottom fits inside of the projection screen. Use the 'Lateral' and 'Vertical' buttons on the remote if there is motorized lateral and vertical orientation.
7. Press the power button on the remote to return the Epson front projector to standby mode until it's ready to be used.
