How to Connect a Computer Projector

1. Choose the connection method. Most computer ready projectors can accept a variety of input sources. You will make your connection based on what cables you have at hand and what your computer can support. The easiest connection to make is from a USB monitor output on your computer to a USB or S-Video input on the projector. The most common connection is through the VGA monitor output on your computer to an analog VGA input port on the projector.
2. Gather the cables you need to make the connection. If you intend on controlling the projector from your computer, rather than from the projector's remote, you may need to string a second cable from the computer's serial out port to the projector's control input port. Consult the projector's user manual to see if this is necessary.
3. You should power down everything, including both your laptop computer and the projector as well. You will also want to turn off any peripherals hooked into your laptop. After you power everything down, unplug the AC from everything, too. Why? Because most computer projector manufacturers recommend doing so, that's why.
4. Make the connections. The most common mistake made in hooking up a projector, or any piece of electronics, is sticking the plug in the wrong port. Double check your connections and make sure the correct outputs are linked to the correct inputs.
5. Re-connect the power supply to your computer, the projector and any peripheral stuff you have hooked up to your computer. Turn on the juice.
6. Set the input of the computer projector. Usually, this is a simple on-screen menu. Look for terms such as COMPUTER, PC or SVGA.
7. Test the connection. Assuming everything looks good, get ready to knock the presentation out of the park.

How to Prevent Ink

1. Use a pigment-based ink-jet ink cartridge in your ink-jet printer. According to the Northeast Document Conservation Center, pigment-based ink is thicker, dissolves less and is not as susceptible to light and moisture in the environment. Pigment-based inks are longer lasting.
2. Use high quality, coated ink-jet paper in your ink-jet printer, and preferably of the same brand and maker as the ink-jet ink you have chosen to use. According to the Northeast Document Conservation Center, coated ink-jet paper has a coating that helps ink absorb into the paper so the ink doesn't seep or smear as much as with other papers. Coated papers work especially well with pigment-based inks. The solutions in a coating on a coated, ink-jet paper can consist of polymers, clays and other chemicals and help the ink-jet paper to dry faster.
3. Allow ink-jet paper to completely dry before handling. Rapid printing also can result in smeared pages when one paper is resting in the printer paper tray and another page is rapidly deposited atop it before ink has completely dried. Allow each ink-jet page to dry undisturbed for at least one minute.
4. Spray dry, printed ink-jet paper with a preserving fixative spray. There are many brands of fixative sprays made for ink-jet-printed documents and photographs. Find fixative sprays in scrapbook, craft and photography stores. When spraying your printed ink-jet paper, hold it upright and spray the page in a well-ventilated room. The page will dry in approximately 30 minutes. Some fixative sprays have heavy fumes even once dry. According to Jerry's Artarama, fixative sprays protect ink-jet paper from moisture, fading and ink smears.
5. Store printed ink-jet paper properly to avoid smearing. According to the Northeast Document Conservation Center, ink-jet inks are easily affected by environmental conditions such as moisture and air pollution. Keep printed materials in folders or out of direct light exposure when storing printed ink-jet paper over the long term.

How to Use a Fax Machine With Comcast Service

1. View the Comcast 'Incompatible Equipment List' to make sure your fax machine model isn't listed before you start the setup process. Not all fax machines work with Comcast Digital Voice and VoIP services.
2. Connect your coaxial cable and Ethernet cord to your eMTA box per the instructions that come with the unit. The coaxial cord is the cord with the round connector (used to view cable television) that allows you to receive cable communications, and the Ethernet cord connects your cable Internet service to your computer.
3. Connect a phone cord to the 'Telephone 1' outlet in the back of your Comcast eMTA unit. Connect that cord to a phone splitter device.
4. Connect one phone cord to the splitter, then insert it into the 'Line In' slot for the phone that you want to use for making calls. Insert the other cord into the other available outlet on the splitter and connect it to the first 'Line In' slot on your compatible fax machine. If you do not want to connect a phone, you can skip the splitter and simply connect the phone cord from 'Telephone 1' on the eMTA to the 'Line In' outlet on the fax machine.
5. Wait to see a solid light on the front of the unit below 'Telephone 1,' which indicates that the telephone service is active.
6. Test your faxing service by sending a fax to a friend and asking him to send you a fax back. You may have to reset your cable modem by unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, and then plugging it back into your power outlet to get the fax service working properly.

How to Troubleshoot a Samsung Intensity (8 Steps)

1. Inspect the display screen for signal bars. On the Samsung Intensity, the signal bars are on the upper left of the display screen. If you see an 'X' or zero bars, you have no signal.
2. Go to an area of known signal where your phone displays full signal bars. Place a test call. Do not get upset if the first call fails. This can happen because the call forces the phone to reestablish with the network. Place a second call if the first call fails. It should go through. If the second call fails or the signal bars do not come back, proceed to the next step.
3. Remove the back cover from the Samsung, and then remove the battery from the phone. Wait for approximately 30 seconds, and then place the battery and cover back on the phone. Wait for the phone to boot up and regain signal. If calls still fail or you get no signal, move to the next step.
4. Place the SIM card for the Samsung Intensity into a different phone sold by your provider. You can use a friend's phone or go to a retail store for your carrier. If the second phone does not obtain signal, contact your provider to file a service issue. If the second phone does get signal, place the SIM back into the Intensity and move to the next step.
5. Complete a master reset on the Samsung Intensity. To do so, press the center button on the navigational keypad, scroll to and select 'Settings & Tools.' Scroll to and select 'Settings,' and then scroll to and select 'Security.' Enter in the last four numbers of your mobile phone number, and then press the button in the center of the navigation keypad. Select 'Okay' to complete the phone reset. The phone will turn off and then turn back on. If the phone does not get a signal, contact your provider to file an exchange for the phone if it is under warranty.
Battery Charging Fail
1. Remove the cover from the phone, and pull the battery out. Inspect the battery contacts for any corrosion. Wipe off any corrosion you find on the battery contacts with a dry rag. Place the battery back into the phone, and plug the charger into the phone and into a known working outlet. If the charger indicator does not come on within 30 seconds, move to the next step.
2. Connect the Samsung to a different charger designed for use with your phone. If you do not have access to a different charger, go to a retail center for your carrier. They can help you. If the phone works with a different charger, the charger you have is defective. If it still does not work, continue to the next step.
3. Place a different battery into the phone that is designed for use with the Samsung. Again, if you do not have access to a second battery, consult a retail center for your carrier. If the phone works with a different battery, consult your carrier's customer service department to inquire about an exchange. If the phone does not work with a different battery, the phone is defective. Consult your carrier for a replacement.

How do I Use a Fax Machine With a VoIP Phone Service?

1. Plug your fax machine into your Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) connection. If you are using a specialist Internet telephony service, this is usually as simple as plugging the fax machine into the VoIP telephone socket. Turn on your fax machine and reduce its baud rate to as low as you can; 9600 bps at the very most. The baud rate must be low to compensate for data loss in signal compression.
2. Turn off the fax machine's error correction, which is usually found in the settings menu. Consult your manual for precise details. This prevents extra error-checking data being sent that can cause problems with the VoIP compression protocols. Switch your fax machine's connection settings to the uncompressed 'G711' protocol, which prevents the machine from attempting its own data compression.
3. Send a test fax to check that your connection and settings are working correctly. You can send any sort of document as a test, from a wholly blank page to something random printed from your computer. If everything works, you are all set. If not, try lowering the baud rate a little more and checking that all your settings are correct.

We have now moved the bounding box to select the bottom image only. When we hit next, only the bottom image will be saved. When you are finished with this image, you can navigate back to the preview selection and select the top image to save to a second file. You can scan as many images as you can fit on the scanner glass. You do not have to preview a second time. Clicking next will begin the final scan of the image.
6.
Before the scan begins you will prompted to identify where you want to save your image and in what file format. You can also edit the name at this time.
7.
You can now finish the wizard by doing nothing. You will find your image at the saved location. You can also navigate back here to the preview step so that you can adjust the bounding box and scan the second image.
