How to Install an HP LaserJet 3050 Without the Installation Disk

1. Turn the HP LaserJet 3050 on but do not plug the USB connector into the computer until prompted by the installation application.
2. Open an internet browser and navigate to the HP LaserJet 3050 download site (see Resources).
3. Click the very last download button in the list labeled “HP LaserJet 3050/3052/3055/3390/3392 North America/Western Europe Full Software Solution.” An EXE file will be queued for download.
4. Click “Save File” in Firefox, or “Save” in Internet Explorer to save the EXE file to the hard drive.
5. Double-click the EXE file to install the drivers and software. Click “Next” button, when prompted, to proceed with the installation. A notification window will appear indicating the files are being prepared for copying. Next, the message will read “Copying Files,” and then “Processing.” Finally, the message will appear that the installation is finishing and a notification will appear to connect the printer device to the computer.
6. Plug the HP LaserJet’s USB connector cable into a free USB port onto the computer.
7. Click “OK.” USB drivers will install and the device will be found and listed by Windows. A notification window will appear indicating a new printer has been detected. The HP printing and scanning software will now install. Once installation is complete, a success message will appear.
8. Click “OK.” The printer/scanner software will open to calibrate the print heads.
9. Click “Next.” The software will calibrate the print heads and then prompt to print a test page.
10. Click the “Print Test Page” button and inspect the page. The software will then prompt to insert the test page into the scanner, close the lid and calibrate the scanner by scanning the page.
11. Lay the test page on the scanner bed, close the lid and click “OK.” The scanner will scan the test page.
12. Click “OK” to finish the calibration process. The scanner will scan the test document and use the data to calibrate.
13. Reboot the computer, when prompted. When the computer restarts, the printer/scanner device is installed and functional.
