How to Reset Ink Cartridge Chips (3 Steps)

1. Go to a computer hardware store to buy an ink cartridge chip resetter. You can purchase it from an online store as well (See Resources). An ink resetter is a small, inexpensive tool used for resetting cartridges. As different ink resetter models are compatible with different cartridges, you must be careful about purchasing a resetter that supports your cartridge model.
2. Take the cartridge out of your printer and hold it upside down. By doing this, the release holes will be pointing up. Hold the ink resetter in your other hand in a way that the LED light points upward. Position the resetter pins right in front of the cartridge chip and press them together. Make sure all the pins come in contact with the chip at the same time.
3. Keep holding the pins against the chip of the cartridge for three to five seconds. When the light on the resetter turns green, the cartridge is reset and is ready for use.
