How to Set Up a Virtual Printer on a PC (13 Steps)

1. Install the CutePDF application by clicking on the 'Free Download' button on the official website. (See Resources.) Press 'Save' to save the installation program to your computer. Once the program has downloaded, select 'Run' from the pop-up window. The process of installing CutePDF will automatically create a PDF Printer icon named 'CutePDF Writer' in the printers folder.
2. Open the source program of the document you wish to convert, then open that document. The document can contain text and images; all fonts, colors and formatting will be preserved in the new PDF document while the original source document is still available to edit.
3. Select 'Print' from the file menu. In the printer options window, select the 'CutePDF Writer' from the drop-down printer name menu.
4. Press the 'Print' button. In the save document window, select a name and destination folder for the document. The file format will be, by default, PDF. Click 'Save' to create the new PDF file.
DoPDF v7
1. Click the 'Get It' button on the official DoPDF home page (see Rsources) to download the DoPDF installation file. The download should start automatically. Select the desired language setting in the pop-up window, click 'Next' and click 'I Accept the Agreement' on the license information window.
2. Select the installation and shortcut destinations for the application, clicking 'Next' at each option. Decide if you want DoPDF as the default print driver, and click 'Next.' You can now choose additional languages you want available to you. English is already selected. Click 'Next' and then click the 'Install' button.
3. Open the file you wish to convert and select 'Print' from the file menu to open the print options window. Select 'DoPDF v7' from the list in the printer name drop-down menu and click 'OK.'
4. Choose where you want to save the file using the 'Browse' button. You can also rename the document. Click 'OK' to covert the file to PDF format. The file will be converted and will automatically open in your default PDF viewer, if you have one installed.
PDF Creator
1. Install PDF Creator by clicking 'Install PDF Creator 1.0.0' on the official program home page. (See Resources.) The download will start automatically. Once it has been downloaded, run the file 'PDFCreator-1_0_0.exe' by double-clicking on it.
2. Select the language and configuration settings as prompted by the installation program, choosing installation-directory, desktop-shortcut and search-menu-bar options to suit your preferences.
3. Open the document you wish to convert in the application you created it with. Select 'Print' from the file menu to open the print dialog window.
4. Select 'PDFCreator' from the printer name menu and click 'OK' to display the PDFCreator options window.
5. Click 'Save,' choose a destination folder for the new document and click 'Save.' The document will be processed and converted to PDF format.
