How to Play DVDs Through a Network Drive

1. Insert the DVD into the DVD drive. If the DVD has been ripped to the computer, the process of sharing the file becomes even easier.
2. Place the file into the 'Shared Folder.' If the DVD has been ripped to the computer then right click on the movie's folder and click 'Copy.' Navigate to 'My Computer,' which can be accessed via the 'Start Menu.' In the address bar on the top of the screen type in 'C:\Users\Public' to access the shared directories for the network. Click 'File,' then 'Paste' to paste the DVD folder into the default shared folder for the computer.
3. Share the DVD drive. If the DVD has not been ripped, then the DVD drive will need to be added to the list of shared devices on the network. Go to 'Start Menu,' 'My Computer.' Right click on the 'DVD Drive' and click 'Properties.' Click on the 'Sharing' tab. Click the 'Share' button to share the drive. If the 'Share' button is not clickable then click 'Advanced Sharing.' Click the box 'Share This Folder' and click 'OK.' Click 'Apply,' then 'Close.' The DVD drive is now shared on the network.
4. Turn on the second computer to access the shared drives. Click on 'Start Menu,' then 'Network.' Double click on the name of the other computer. This will bring up the shared folders and drives for the other computer. The 'DVD Drive' or the 'Public' folder should be visible. Double click on the appropriate folder to play the DVD through the network drive.
