How to Use a Brother LC61 Scanner (7 Steps)

1. Insert a USB storage drive into the scanner.
2. Press the “Scan” icon on the printer.
3. Select where you want to save your scan with the 'Up' and 'Down' arrow buttons on the printer. Select “Photo” to save the photo to your computer or select “Scan to Media” to save directly to a USB device. Confirm your selection by pressing the 'OK' button on the printer.
4. Open the tray, and insert the document that you want scanned, face down onto the glass. Close the tray.
5. Select the quality of the scan with the “Up” and “Down” arrow keys on the printer and press the “OK” button. Resolution quality refers to the dot's per square inch, or 'DPI' that the scanner recognizes. Choosing a higher DPI will provide a higher-quality scan but will also create a larger file size. You may choose to scan in color at 150 DPI, 300 DPI or 600 DPI. The black and white scan options are available as 100 or 200 DPI.
6. Choose the file type with the “Up” and “Down” arrow keys on the printer, and press the “OK” button. You can choose to scan in either JPEG, TIFF or PDF formats.
7. Press the “Mono Start” or “Color Start” button to choose whether to scan the document in color or monochrome and start the scan.
