1. Turn on the Deskjet F4200 and the computer you wish to install it on. Do not connect the printer to the computer using the USB cable at this time.
2. Open your computer's web browser and navigate to HP's website. Click on the 'Support and Drivers' line at the top of the page.
3. Type 'Deskjet F4200' into the empty box in the 'Drivers and Software' tab, then press the 'Enter' key. Click on the specific model printer you own in the list that appears. Select the operating system on your computer from the pull-down menu.
4. Click the plus sign next to 'Driver' to expand the section and click on the 'Full Feature Software and Drivers' option. Click the 'Download' button on the next screen, then open the software once it finishes downloading.
5. Follow the on-screen directions in the installation software (which varies according to your computer's operating system). Plug the USB cable into the computer and printer when the software prompts.
