Instructions for the Epson NX 415 (11 Steps)

1. Unpack the NX415 printer. Check that you have all the parts, including the owner's manual, ink cartridges, software and USB cable. Remove all protective tape and materials from the printer.
2. Connect the power cable to the back of the printer -- do not connect the printer to the computer at this point. Plug the cord into an electrical outlet or surge protector. Press the 'On' button and check to see that it has power.
3. Press the up and down arrows to choose your language. Press 'OK.' Tilt the LCD screen for better viewing.
4. Lift up the scanner. Squeeze the latch and open the cartridge cover. Shake the ink cartridges well, then unwrap them. Remove the yellow tape from each cartridge. Do not remove any other seals; ink could leak out.
5. Insert each cartridge into the corresponding color cartridge holder. Press each down until it clicks into place. Close the cartridge cover then press down until it clicks into place. Close the scanner lid.
6. Press the 'OK' button to charge the ink and prime the printer. Allow two minutes for the ink to fully charge. Do not turn the printer off during the charging process.
7. Open the paper support on the top of the printer and pull out the extensions. Open the output tray at the bottom, pull out the extensions and raise the stopper.
8. Pull the feeder guard out and flip it forward. Squeeze the edge guide and slide it left. Load the paper, printable side face-up, against the right edge, making sure it sits underneath the tab. Slide the edge guide over to the paper. Flip the feeder guard back.
9. Close any open programs you have running on the computer you will be scanning to. Insert the software CD into the computer -- do not connect the scanner to the computer yet.
10. Click 'Install' when the 'Software Installation' window pops up and follow the on-screen instructions. The 'Software Installation' window will pop up again; click 'Install driver for USB connection.' Click 'Next.'
11. Connect the USB cable to an open USB port on the back of your computer as prompted. Follow the on-screen directions to install the rest of the printer software. Remove the CD when you are done.
