1. Connect the USB printer to the ReadyNAS. The ReadNAS has 3 USB ports, one on the front and two on the back. The front USB port is normally used for devices you will attach and remove frequently like a USB flash drive. The rear USB ports should be used for devices that will remain connected to the ReadyNAS such as a printer. The ReadyNAS will automatically detect attached USB printers.
2. Open the Frontview browser application that was installed during the installation of your ReadyNAS. Click 'Printers' from the menu and click 'Printer Queue Service.' You will see your USB printer displayed with both the ReadyNAS share name and a descriptive name. For example, you might see 'CLP_610' as the share name and 'Samsung CLP-610' as the descriptive name.
3. Click the Windows Start button and click 'Devices and Printers.' Right click in the window that displays the devices and printers attached to your computer and select 'Add a Printer.' Choose 'Add a Network, Wireless or Bluetooth Printer.' Windows will search for all network printers and display them.
4. Click and highlight the printer attached to the ReadyNAS. This will be displayed as '\ReadyNAS-name\printer-name.' For example, '\MYREADYNAS\Samsung CLP-610.'
5. Click 'Next.' Windows will communicate with the printer and determine the correct printer driver to install. Click 'Next.' Windows will give your attached printer a name. You may change this name to anything you like or leave the default name.
6. Click 'Next.' Click the 'Share This Printer So That Others on Your Network Can Find and Use It' radio button. On the next screen you will have the option to make the printer the default printer for your computer. You can also test the printer by clicking the 'Print a Test Page' button at the bottom of the screen.
