How to Reset a Brother Cartridge (5 Steps)

1. Press the power button to turn on your Brother printer. Open the front flap, and remove the ink cartridge from your printer. Grab the cartridge and pull toward yourself firmly to remove it.
2. Cut a half-inch piece of electrical tape from the roll with scissors.
3. Turn the cartridge so that the bottom side is facing up, and place the electrical tape over the square groove. The LED light is located in the groove.
4. Place the ink cartridge back into the printer by seating it correctly and firmly pressing down. Close the printer's access flap, and press the power button to turn the printer off.
5. Unplug the power cable from the printer, and leave it unplugged for 30 seconds. Plug it back in, and turn the printer back on. Print a test page to ensure that you are no longer receiving error messages.
