How to Troubleshoot a Lexmark Printer That Will Not Print With Vista

1. Check the cable connection between the Lexmark printer and the Windows Vista computer. Usually this is in the form of USB cable. Make sure the cable is completely inserted into the drives both the printer and the computer.
2. Open the program you want to print from and select 'Print.' When the print wizard loads make sure your Lexmark printer is selected. Click the 'Printer' tab and select the Lexmark printer from the list of printers on your computer. Having the wrong printer selected results in your Lexmark printer not receiving the print order.
3. Launch your Internet browser and make your way to the Lexmark website (www.lexmark.com). You may need to update your drivers so the computer knows how to function with the printer.
4. Select 'Downloads' once you reach the site, then type in your product model number into the 'Search for Downloads' tab. Select 'Vista' as your operating system, the wait for the provided driver to appear.
5. Click 'Download' and the driver downloads to your computer. Double-click the downloaded file (it is either on your desktop or in a 'Downloads' window). Follow the prompts to install the updated driver.
