How do I Network a Color HP Laserjet 2840? (6 Steps)

1. Connect an Ethernet cable into the printer's network port and a network jack. Press 'Menu' on the control panel, then use the arrow keys to select 'Reports' then press the 'Enter' key to print a configuration page.
2. Put the printer's installation CD into the computer's optical drive. Click on 'Install Software' then the 'Next' button.
3. Select 'Yes' on the following screen, then click on the 'Next' button. Choose where on the computer to save the software, then click 'Next.' Click on 'Next' once more to start the installation process.
4. Click on 'Through the Network' on the screen titled 'Connection Type' and click on the 'Next' button. Enter the printer's IP address, listed on the configuration page you printed, then click on 'Next.'
5. Set a password to access the printer by click on the 'Start' or Windows icon button, then selecting 'Files' or 'All Files.' Click on the 'HP' folder and select 'HP Toolbox.'
6. Click on the tab labeled 'Network Settings' and click on 'Password.' Type the password you desire in both blank boxes, then click on 'Apply.'
