How to Make Iron

1. Purchase a pack of iron-on transfer paper at your local hobby center, office supply store or site such as Amazon (see resources). A number of companies make iron-on transfer paper including HP, Epson and Strathmore. Select a paper that is appropriate for your printer. If you have a laser printer, purchase iron-on transfer paper for a laser paper. Purchase iron-on transfer inkjet paper for an inkjet printer.
2. Create your iron-on design using a computer graphics program, a scanned image or use commercial iron-on transfer designs. There are many free iron-on transfer designs available on the Internet (see resources for several).
3. Print a test of your image to see if the design is satisfactory, using regular computer paper.
4. Load the iron-on transfer paper so the correct side will be printed on. This will depend on your computer printer. Print the design on the iron-on transfer paper.
5. Allow the printed transfer paper to completely dry before using.
