How to Make My Printer Bluetooth Compatible (5 Steps)

1. Open the package and take out the two printer adapters. Both adapters look similar, but the device that attaches to the computer has a direct USB port.
2. Insert the USB adapter into the computer. Once it's inserted, the Windows operating system automatically detects the new hardware. Windows will automatically install the printer drivers. However, some device manufacturers come with device drivers on a CD-ROM. Older Windows versions may not have the device drivers available through the operating system, so installation from the manufacturer's CD is necessary.
3. Insert the printer adapter into the USB port on the printer. The printer adapter requires an AC adapter for power. The power cord is included in the packaging. Connect the Bluetooth adapter to the printer and connect the AC power adapter to the Bluetooth device. The AC power adapter uses a typical power source from a wall outlet.
4. Ensure communication between the two devices. When communication is established, the Bluetooth adapter has a colored LED that illuminates. This is verification that the computer should now be able to print.
5. Print a test page. Although the LED lights come on, verifying installation through a test page is more efficient. By right-clicking the printer in Control Panel and selecting 'Properties,' a screen appears with a button labeled 'Test Print Page.' Click this button and a test page is sent to the printer.
