1. Set the HP color cartridge in front of you so that the copper contacts of the cartridge face you and are at the bottom of the cartridge. Cover the topmost contact in the second column from the left with a piece of tape. Make sure the other contacts on the cartridge remain uncovered.
2. Return the HP color cartridge to its slot in the printer carefully to ensure that the tape stays in place over the contact. The HP printer automatically prints a test page.
3. Remove the color cartridge from the printer again. Cover the topmost contact in the far right colum with another piece of tape, making sure no other contacts get covered in the process. Leave the original contact covered as well.
4. Insert the color cartridge into its slot in the HP printer with both of the contacts covered. Again, the HP printer automatically prints a test page.
5. Take the cartridge out of the HP printer. Peel both pieces of tape off of the cartridge so that all of the copper contacts are once again uncovered.
6. Place the color cartridge back inside the printer. The printer should indicate the cartridge as full.
