How to Troubleshoot a Samsung HLT6176SX/XAA (10 Steps)

1. Press 'Menu' on the remote control.
2. Highlight 'Picture' using the arrow buttons and then press 'Enter.'
3. Press the 'Down' arrow to highlight 'Brightness.' Adjust the TV's brightness using the 'Left' and 'Right' arrow buttons.
4. Press the 'Up' arrow to highlight 'Contrast.' Adjust the contrast using the 'Left' and 'Right' arrow buttons and then press 'Exit' to save your changes and close the menu.
Remote Won't Work
1. Remove objects that could be blocking the signal between the remote control and the TV. Alternatively, wipe the top part of the remote to remote any dirt or debris. The top part of the remote control is where the sensor is located.
2. Press 'TV' on the remote control to make sure the remote control is trying to communicate with the TV instead of some other device.
3. Replace the batteries in the remote control in case the existing batteries are dead. Alternatively, check to make sure the batteries are inserted correctly.
No Picture
1. Check the connectors plugged into the jacks on the back of the TV to make sure they are firmly pushed into the jacks. Also, check the connectors on the source device. A loose video connector can result in a distorted picture, discolored picture or the picture not appearing on the screen.
2. Press 'Source' on the remote control and make sure the proper source that should be displayed on the TV is selected. If the improper source is selected, no image or an image from a different source will appear.
3. Change the channels if there is no picture associated with a channel you are pulling in over the air to see if other channels are having the same problem. If other channels are being pulled in, there is a problem with the signal associated with the channel that isn't coming in. However, if all of the channels are not displaying, try adjusting your antenna to see if something is blocking the signal, such as trees or buildings.
