1. Remove the USB cable from both the printer and computer. Plugging the USB cable into the devices before prompted will lead to problems installing and using the printer.
2. Press the printer's 'Power' button to turn the printer off, and then wait 60 seconds before pressing the 'Power' button again to turn the printer back on. Restart the computer by clicking the 'Start' or Windows button, then clicking the 'Restart' button.
3. Remove the printer's software from your computer by clicking the 'Start' or Windows button. Select the 'Control Panel' icon, and then click the 'Add/Remove Programs' icon. Click the 'Remove' button next to the printer's software.
4. Insert the printer's installation disc into the computer's optical drive, and follow the directions on the screen to reinstall the printer's software and drivers correctly on your computer. Plug the USB cable into the printer and computer once the software directs.
Slow Printing
1. Click the 'File' option at the top of the program you are using to print. Select the 'Print' option in the menu, then click on the pull-down menu in the new window and click the printer to select it. Choose the 'Properties' button, and then click the tab labeled 'Features.'
2. Click the drop-down menu labeled 'Paper Type' and select the type of paper you are printing on. Click the drop-down labeled 'Print Quality,' and choose the designation of a lower quality setting than you have been using.
3. Double-click the small printer icon on the right side of the task bar to check the estimated ink levels of the cartridges. Replace any cartridges that appear to be running low on ink, since low cartridges can overheat the print head and lead to slow printing.
