How to Network a Printer to a Wireless Computer

1. Turn on the printer. Connect the printer to the wireless router with an Ethernet cable from the printer to one of the numbered ports on the back of the router. Select any port besides the first port, because that port should be connected to the modem.
2. Open the 'Start' menu on the wireless computer. Click 'Control Panel' in the 'Start' menu. Click 'View devices and printers' under 'Network and Internet' in the Control Panel. Click 'Add a printer' near the top of the next screen.
3. Select the network printer option when the screen asks what type of printer you want to install. Click the printer from the list of available printers on the next screen.
4. Click 'Yes' to install the printer’s device drivers if the computer prompts you to do so. Insert the CD that came with the printer if prompted.
5. Enter the nickname you want to use for the printer, such as '3rd Floor Printer' or 'Mike’s Printer.' Click 'Next.' Select whether you want to set this printer up as your default printer. Click 'Finish.'
