Instructions for Xerox Iron

1. Turn on your printer and load a single sheet of Xerox iron-on transfer paper into the paper tray. Make sure the paper is positioned so that the image will be printed on the shiny coated side.
2. Click the 'Start' button in the task bar and select 'All Programs.' Open the 'Accessories' folder and double-click 'Paint.'
3. Click 'File' in the toolbar and select 'Open.' Press the 'Browse' button in the dialog box and highlight the image you want to use as a transfer. Click 'Open' to confirm your selection.
4. Click 'File' in the toolbar and select 'Print.' Highlight your printer in the 'Select Printer' field.
5. Click the 'Preferences' button and select the 'Page Layout' tab. Check the box next to 'Mirror Image' and press 'OK' to confirm. If your printer does not include this option you will need to manually flip the image by pressing the 'Rotate' button in the toolbar and selecting 'Flip Horizontal.'
6. Click the 'Print' button. Carefully cut away the excess transfer paper leaving space of half a centimeter around the image.
7. Plug the iron into a wall socket and set to the highest temperature. Prepare a hard, flat surface using a folded pillowcase.
8. Place the fabric on the folded pillowcase. Use the iron to remove any creases.
9. Position the transfer face-down on the fabric. Press the iron for 8 to 10 seconds, making sure to apply even pressure across the whole surface of the transfer. Heavier material may require up to 30 seconds.
10. Peel the transfer paper away.
