How to Scan Business Cards

1. Turn on the computer and scanner.
2. Place the business card onto the clear bed of the scanner.
3. Launch the scanning application.
4. Configure the destination for the scanned file. This location should be somewhere on your computer that you can access easily, such as a 'My Documents' folder.
5. Name the scanned file. The file name should include the name of the individual, as well as their company, in order to allow for faster searching.
6. Customize the file type to ensure maximum compatibility. The resolution should be high enough so that all of the information is visible. Save the file as a .jpg to ensure that colleagues can easily view the file if you send it to them. This will also produce a small file size, which will help to minimize the amount of disk space that each file will consume.
7. Start the scan. Some scanning software will allow you to preview and crop the scanned image before it is finalized and written to your hard drive. If your software offers this option, crop the image to only include the business card. This will minimize the file size.
