How to Use a Parallel Printer on USB Port (5 Steps)

1. Shut down the computer. Although this is not an imperative step, it's best to turn off a computer before attaching any accessory components.
2. Attach the parallel-to-USB adapter into the parallel cable on the printer. The parallel cable is a large, 25-pin connector, so it's easily distinguishable from the USB port. Connect it to the parallel port of the printer and ensure it's tightly attached.
3. Attach the other side of the adapter to the USB port on the computer. Ensure the connection is tightly faceted into the port.
4. Turn on the computer and log into the machine. Upon start-up, the computer should detect the newly installed printer.
5. Insert the driver CD disk into the drive. The driver installation process should start immediately. Follow the prompts to install the drivers onto the computer. At this point the printer is completely installed, and you can use it on the USB port.
